A VPS is like a mini dedicated server with full root access as standard. We use high specification servers to build our VPS servers on and you decide on your specification. Whether you want a fully managed vps solution with Cpanel and fully managed support, a basic managed VPS solution with Cpanel or an unmanaged solution with no Cpanel the choice is yours and we are sure to have a VPS solution to meet your needs. To customise a solution to your exact needs contact our sales team by opening a support ticket by completing the contact us form today. With RAID 10 as standard your data will be secure on your Bigwetfish VPS server. Upgrades and downgrades are easy with zero downtime. Our servers are all configured with at least 8 CPU cores and 24GB to 48GB of RAM. We never oversell our VPS nodes so the disk space and RAM you pay for is guaranteed to be available to you at all times.

Backup Accounts

A recommended add on is a Backup Account. We will set up a backup account on a different server to the node your VPS is hosted on and we will set up either daily or weekly time stamped backups to that backup server. This means in the event of you deleting some data we will have a backup available. Without a backup account if you were to delete data from your VPS server that data is lost unless you have another backup elsewhere.

You can start off with a small backup account and upgrade only when needed. For peace of mind it is well worth a few pounds per month.

All VPS servers are located on servers with RAID 10 - this gives high resilience in the event of hardware failure and should one hard drive fail it is unlikely there will be any data loss. However, we cannot guarantee this - although in 7 years no data on any of our RAID servers has ever been lost. Therefore we recommend a backup account for greater peace of mind. It is very unlikely that two hard drives would fail in a VPS RAID 10 array plus 2 hard drives fail in the backup server RAID array at the same time! Therefore we can be pretty certain your data is safe with a backup account.

Additional Bandwidth

This allows you to fully customise your VPS server. Perhaps you need more Bandwidth but are happy with your disk space and RAM allocation. Simply contact us and we can quickly and easily upgrade your server by adding as much additional bandwidth as you need for a set price per GB. Custom VPS servers are easy with Bigwetfish.

Additional Disk Space

This allows you to fully customise your VPS server. Perhaps you need more disk space but not more RAM or Bandwidth. Simply contact us and we can quickly and easily upgrade you server by adding as much additional space as you need for the set price per GB. Custom VPS servers are easy with Bigwetfish.

Softaculous Script Installer

We used to offer Fantastico but we came across this little gem in July 2010 and it now comes as standard on all our shared and reseller servers. With Softaculous you can auto install 146+ scripts with one click. This is an awesome script and we highly recommend you purchase a licence for it. The scripts are kept up to date and the library is growing all the time. Already since we started offering this script the number of scripts has increased by 6 in 3 weeks! All accounts set up on the VPS server will have access to Softaculous.

This is only compatible with the purchase of Cpanel as it is intalled onto the server as a cpanel add on.

SSL Certificate

Get your Alpha SSL Certificate from Big Wet Fish Hosting. We will install and configure this certificate for you and have it up and running within 24 hours. We also sell extended verification certificates at a higher cost. The Alpha SSL certificate is the most popular gives you secure encryption and helps your clients trust your website. Additional IP Address

Your VPS comes with either 1 or 2 IP addresses as standard. Additional IP address are avalable for a low cost. Perhaps you have a client who wants to install a private SSL certificate to allow https:// secure access. A dedicated IP address will be needed for this. We can assign a new IP to your VPS server in minutes.

IP addresses are half price when bought with an SSL certificate and paid annually - open a support ticket for details.

Full Management

This is another recommended option. Let us take care of your VPS server for you. Anything you need just ask - that’s what full management means. Without full management you will get charged for common tasks so please make sure you are able to complete these tasks yourself if you decide not to take full management. here is an example of some tasks we will complete for you. If you need a full list then just open a support ticket but please remember full management means what it says - we will help you to the best of our ability with anything you need to help you manage your VPS.

Cpanel Control Panel

With a Cpanel Licence you get both Web Host Manager and Cpanel. This is a highly recommended option to make the use of your new Linux VPS server easy. Cpanel and WHM is the leading control panel software identical to that used in our shared and reseller accounts. Use it to create accounts, view web statistics, set up email accounts, view webmail plus hundreds more actions. As Cpanel requires approximately 300MB of available RAM it is only available on those VPS servers with 512MB of RAM or more.

Additional RAM

Perhaps you have enough disk space and Bandwidth for you needs but are running some RAM intensive scripts. An example would be a busy Wordpress site with lots of active plug-ins. We sell additional RAM by the megabyte for only 4 pence per megabyte per month. You have the flexibility to add more RAM to your VPS server either at time of ordering or at a later date.
